I've been coming here pretty often for a quick lunch/dinner option since I last wrote my review. They've definitely improved A LOT since they opened. -I always get half salad & half ginger rice. Ginger rice is consistently good. -I've tried all of their meats. While they're ALL good and flavorful, my favorites are the duck, pork belly, and brisket (with the broth). -I get all their vegetables and toppings! My favorites are still the soyed egg & crispy fried onions. I also enjoy the bamboo. -I get a mix of three sauces directly onto the bowl: chili oil + ponzu + spicy mayo. Yum. I think it brings the entire bowl together so I highly recommend. I've noticed that they started giving more meat as well which is a huuuge improvement since I first visited. Service is still very nice. I honestly would go here everyday if I could. It's suuuuper good. I hope y'all do well for a really really long time!

So glad the hubs found this place on Yelp! It's set up like Chipotle with an Asian twist. You choose your base (rice or salad), protein, and toppings. Customers may also add sauces as well. It's basically a customizable Asian bowl. I really enjoy the GG chicken and beef over rice with corn, picked carrots/daikon, bamboo shoots, cucumbers, fried shallots with ponzu sauce and hot chili oil on the side. Tastes great and you don't feel horrible eating it. Restaurant is small and there is some seating, but whenever we visit most customers get their items to go (they also have a brisk Postmates or similar delivery business). The Asian woman who we normally see working here is always so nice and pleasant. Will definitely be back!

Okay Taka, I get you. I see where you are going and what you are doing. Described in plenty of reviews as an Asian Chipotle, I can't argue the comparison. The menu is somewhat exotic but the way you customize your bowl is pretty dang nifty. Simple enough, pick your base, pick you protein, pick a topping then pick your sauce. Pay your $9.50 and eat. Wash, rinse, repeat... Really nice that you can blend and get half and half bases or proteins and basically get any amount of toppings you like. Overall i was pleasantly surprised at how tasty my bowl was. Had the mustard pork and honey duck and was amazed that all of the flavors really came through. A bit on the greasy side for me but I supposed better than being dried out. To be honest, when I walked in the place at about 6 at night on a weekday I did not have high hopes. It was eerily quiet and nobody was there eating. Nobody in the back or anything just the worker that popped up and started to help us. Uncovering all of the items on the buffet table setting to show off his wares, I was concerned that the food was going to be dried out or old. Ended up not being the case as we rather liked it. Will be back, soon!

Ah Taka. I'm so glad you exist! After Cross Roast closed down not too far off (and yas, I know there's an Anaheim Packing House location but it wasn't as flexible/awesome as the original location), I thought all hope was lost for another Asian-focused Chipotle concept. Lo and behold, Taka has come over. Taka is pretty familiar concept-wise. You'll select a bowl / salad with everything from salads to rice to brown rice. Then you'll pick your protein - can go all in on one or half and half. Then you'll select your garnishes / veggies and voila - you have your Taka bowl ready to go for about $10. I got the brown rice bowl with duck and pork belly. I added the soyed egg (which is a nice different touch), cabbage, bamboo and pickles before topping it off with a mix of ponzu and chili oil. The bowl is a fantastic size for a regular and filling (you can add more meat and ingredients for an extra cost) and the duck / pork belly were amazing. I loved the ingredients all-around and everything tasted on-point. Service was super friendly and the place was clean. Nothing too fancy here but it's on the spot. Parking is plentiful at the moment on weekdays although I can see this getting packed eventually as it's a narrow parking lot. Super can't wait to come back and really happy another Asian Chipotle has come to take the throne.

I found this place on Yelp while working in the area. I thought it was a new place since I haven't heard about it before. Turned out they have been opened for about 5 months. I expected it to be similar to Cross Roast but it was actually better!! Similar concept but better taste!! I like that the menu is pretty simple. You start with the base (rice, salad) then the meat (duck, beef, pork, chicken), then veggies and sauces. The person who helped me was very nice and polite. He explained the menu and helped me decide on the sauces. I got white rice with shredded duck and shredded chicken, with all the veggies and toppings (egg, corn, cabbage, grilled onion, cucumber, carrot & daikon, bamboo shoot, seaweed, and fried onion). For the sauces, I went with the ponzu sauce and chili oil with some sriracha. Everything was so tasty and fresh. I really enjoyed my food and will definitely be back. I told my coworkers about this place as well so they can come here for lunch. I wish the business lots of success!

We found this place after one of the locations for Cross Roast closed. It is located in a really small plaza with limited amount of parking, however it wasn't too crowded when we went! This is essentially like a build your own Asian chipotle bowl with asian style proteins and toppings. Food: The portions here are decent but the meat to rice ratio is really off. They didn't give a lot of the protein in comparison to the amount of rice they give. However, it's unlimited toppings! You can add whatever your heart desires. They have a good amount of options for toppings (pickled veggies, cucumbers, ramen egg, sauteed cabbage, corn, seaweed) The meat itself is great! I got the duck and the roasted pork belly, and I was very pleased with the flavors of both of them! The ginger rice was a good compliment to everything as well. If you like spice, GET THEIR HOUSE CHILI SAUCE. It added such a good kick and flavor to the whole bowl. So fragrant and good! Service: The girl at the front was super friendly to us, even though we had a fairly large group and she even helped us arrange seating at their very small dining area. She was so sweet and also kept offering us more sauces for our bowls. They have very limited seating in their dining area though! only a few tables and a bar strip seating area. Definitely not ideal for large groups.

The name sounds Japanese, but it's actually a Chinese style "build your own bowl" place. It's quite similar to Cross Roast BBQ in Anaheim, but on a smaller scale. To be honest I was rather underwhelmed when I first came here. Place is quite small, and the food trays were almost empty for most of the protein options and toppings. It's been like this for all my visits so far, but something keeps me coming back. Presentation isn't all that appealing but I like the taste of the food, especially the sauces. Base options - ginger rice, white rice, brown rice, mixed salad, or half & half. Protein options - shredded duck, beef brisket, pork rib, pork belly, shredded chicken, or half & half. Toppings - soy egg, corn, cabbage, onion, pickled cucumber, shredded carrot & daikon pickles, and seasoned bamboo shoots. Sauce options - chili oil, peanut, ponzu, hoisin, and spicy mayo. I tried all protein options so far with the exception of pork belly. My favorite is the duck. It has good flavor without too much fat (or at least not as much fat as ones I tried in the past). I think it goes well with the hoisin sauce but all the other sauces are great. My favorite sauce is actually the peanut sauce. It's not as sweet and thick like the ones that you get with chicken satay at Thai restaurants. It's lighter with a subtle peanut flavor. For base I always get the ginger rice. For toppings I get everything with the exception of cabbage. My main complaint with this place is the ratio of protein to rice. I always end up with quite a bit of rice after my meal because there's not enough protein or toppings to finish it. Service has been good so far, and I like the fact this place uses compostable bowls. I generally never paid attention to this kind of stuff in the past but it's important to me now. I don't have to worry about toxic stuff leaching into my food from plastic containers. It's located in a thin strip mall that's easy to miss if you are not actively looking for this place. The strip mall is perpendicular to Orangethorpe Avenue, and this place is located toward the end, so you won't be able to see it from the street. Just look for Subway, which is about the only sign that stands out at this strip mall.

Taka Roasty Bowls will have your stomach reach its goals; If your bowels aim for tasty, then hurry up, and please be hasty; And grab a base with rice, I got the brown, it be so nice; Heaped on pork and brisket, y'all get up in this quick; Cuz then you add your toppings, got em all, there's just no stopping; Cucumbers, carrots, onions - with the meat, such good companions; And don't forget the sauce, if you do, then it's your loss; Me? I did the pon-zu. Chili oil, you know I gots to; My bowl was then complete, other boring teriyaki can't compete; Cuz Taka's got the quality, with a price that backs frugality; That roasty bowl mentality, happily filling my stomach's capacity.
